FACULTY POSITION IN CHEMISTRY AND BIOCHEMISTRY. Miami University - Oxford Campus, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry invites applicants with a Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry or related areas for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position starting August 2003.

Preference will be given to candidates whose research addresses important problems in metabolism, specifically those who will use modern biochemical approaches such as metabolic profiling to explore pathways and their regulation for secondary metabolite production in plants or microorganisms

Applicants should have a strong commitment to developing an externally funded research program and to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. ASSISTANT PROFESSOR POSITION

The Department of Chemistry at the University of Massachusetts Boston seeks to fill at least one, possibly two tenure-track positions at the assistant professor level. The appointment is expected to commence with the fall 2002 academic semester.

UMass Boston, part of the five-member University of Massachusetts system, is an urban public university. Responsibilities include training and supervision of students; installation and maintenance of equipment; and other instructional/coordinating responsibilities for upper level chemistry labs. Master's Degree in chemistry and extensive hands-on experience with instrumentation is required. Research collaborations with faculty and undergraduate students encouraged.

Postdoctoral experience or prior teaching experience desired, strong commitment to teaching and supervising research with undergraduates in liberal arts environment will receive serious consideration. The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at UC San Diego (http://chem.ucsd.edu) has an opening for a Lecturer, with the potential of security of employment (PSOE). We are seeking an outstanding teacher who wishes to have a permanent faculty position. The position is full-time and will involve teaching lecture and laboratory courses in general and analytical chemistry, developing curriculum, writing lab manuals, assisting with the training of teaching assistants, and other coordination tasks related to undergraduate instruction. A Lecturer PSOE position closely parallels that of an assistant professor on track for tenure. Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree and a record of excellence in teaching.
