The Dorrestein lab is currently accepting new members, if you are interested or if you like more information about the current openings or research, Dr. Dorrestein's contact information is at the end of this page.

Post-Doctoral position:

The Dorrestein lab is looking for a post-doctoral fellow that has demonstrated interest in preparing and analyzing proteins or protein digests by HPLC and mass spectrometry or molecular biology. The lab aims to elucidate, by in large via mass spectrometry, the functional roles of orphan gene clusters that resemble genes that produce natural products with therapeutic value (e.g. antibiotics, anti-cancer agents etc.) or that are involved in the biosynthesis of post-transaltional modifications. Preference is given to candidates with knowledge in protein purification, enzymology, or chemical biology. The candidate must be proficient in standard molecular biology techniques. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required as this will be a team oriented environment. Please send CV, cover letter, and three letters of reference to Dr. Dorrestein at the address listed below.

Post-Doctoral position or Junior Research Technician:

The Dorrestein laboratory seeks a research technician or post-doc with experience in mass spectrometry. The position requires working knowledge of HPLC and MS operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Familiarity with capillary LC approaches and handling of large data-sets is preferred Strong communication skills are required. This is an outstanding opportunity for a scientist seeking analytical responsibility in the field of protein chemistry, natural products and proteomic methods. We are applying these analytical methodologies to discover and characterize new therapeutic agents, their biosynthesis and to ID their targets. Please send CV, cover letter, and three letters of reference to Dr. Dorrestein at the address listed below.

Graduate students:

The Dorrestein lab is interdisciplinary and spans the fields of chemical biology, enzymology, organic chemistry, molecular pharmacology, biochemistry, bioanalytical chemistry, microbiology and related disciplines. Though we will have students from many different areas, they will all share one common goal: to do great science. If you are interested in the lab just stop by Dr. Dorrestein's office in the biomedical science building or contact him via e-mail or phone as listed below.

Undergraduates:

Dr. Dorrestein himself began his research as an undergraduate student. This research resulted in 4 peer-reviewed publications. He therefore finds it important to have undergraduates in his laboratory. Doing undergraduate research is also important to discover what science and research is all about. Due to the high response, the lab is not currently accepting new undergraduates.
