Eduardo Esquenazi:

Most of my previous work and training has been in neuroscience (computer simulations, synaptic transmission and imaging). However, I recently expanded my interests to the field of natural products and joined the Dorrestein Lab and the Gerwick Lab at SIO. Broadly I am interested in streamlining and optimizing the natural product discovery process. Specifically, I'm trying to utilize mass spectrometry approaches (mainly MALDI-TOF imaging) in new ways in order to identify, characterize and visualize the presence of bioactive secondary metabolites in marine cyanobacteria and sponges.
